چکیده
Recently, several authors presented linear recursive algorithms for sorting suffixes of a string. All these algorithms employ a similar three-step approach, based on an initial division of the suffixes of x into two sets: in step 1 sort the first set using recursive reduction of the problem, in step 2 determine the order of the suffixes in the second set based on the order of the suffixes in the first set, and in step 3 merge the two sets together. To optimize such an algorithm either for space or time, it may not be sufficient to optimize one of the three steps, since in doing so, one might increase the resources required for the others to an unacceptable extent. Franek, Lu, and Smyth introduced two-pattern strings as a generalization of Sturmian strings. Like Sturmian strings, two-pattern strings are generated by iterated morphisms, but they exhibit a much richer structure. In this paper we show that the suffixes of two-pattern strings can be sorted in linear time using a variant of the three step approach outlined above. It turns out that, given the order of the suffixes in a two-pattern string, one can almost directly list in linear time all the suffixes of its expansion under a two-pattern morphism. suffixes

متن کاملSuffix Array of Alignment: A Practical Index for Similar Data
The suffix tree of alignment is an index data structure for similar strings. Given an alignment of similar strings, it stores all suffixes of the alignment, called alignment-suffixes. An alignment-suffix represents one suffix of a string or suffixes of multiple strings starting at the same position in the alignment. The suffix tree of alignment makes good use of similarity in strings theoretica...
متن کاملString Range Matching
Given strings X and Y the exact string matching problem is to find the occurrences of Y as a substring of X. An alternative formulation asks for the lexicographically consecutive set of suffixes of X that begin with Y. We introduce a generalization called string range matching where we want to find the suffixes of X that are in an arbitrary lexicographical range bounded by two strings Y and Z. ...
متن کاملA Java Pattern for Sorting Persian Strings
Sorting Persian strings is a common challenge for many users that develop web-based database applications. This issue occurs more frequently while using Persian data. To the best of our knowledge almost many versions of several DBMS do not support Persian strings sorting properly. In this paper we present a Java pattern for solving this issue. Our object-oriented solution consists of three clas...
متن کاملSorting Suffixes of a Text via its Lyndon Factorization
The process of sorting the suffixes of a text plays a fundamental role in Text Algorithms. They are used for instance in the constructions of the BurrowsWheeler transform and the suffix array, widely used in several fields of Computer Science. For this reason, several recent researches have been devoted to finding new strategies to obtain effective methods for such a sorting. In this paper we i...
